- [Course 0009: Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition](https://pace.oakland.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1015711): 32nd IGVC-2025 – 26 Student Teams from 7 countries The Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC), offers university student teams a comprehensive systems engineering experience that is at the very cutting edge and beyond a normal engineering education. It is multidisciplinary, theory-based, hands-on, team implemented, outcome assessed, and judged on a expert panel judged Design Challenge and the Autonomous Navigation (AutoNav) & Self Drive performance challenges. IGVC encompasses the very latest technologies impacting automotive, defense and other commercial development and focused on technologies of high interest to students and sponsor-based communities. Design and build of an Intelligent Vehicle fits well in a two-semester senior year design capstone course, or an extracurricular activity earning design credit, university student clubs and graduate thesis work. The deadline of an end-of-term competition is a real-world constraint that includes the excitement of potential winning recognition and financial awards while competing against US and international teams. Students at all levels of undergraduate and graduate education can contribute to the team effort, and those at the lower levels benefit greatly from the experience and mentoring of those at higher levels. Team organization and leadership are practiced, and there are roles for team members from business and engineering management, language and graphic arts, and public relations. Students solicit and interact with industrial sponsors who provide component hardware and advice, and in that way get an inside view of project engineering life cycle and opportunities for employment including resume submission for IGVC sponsor review. Evidence supported manual therapy specialty skills presented in this course include symptom localization, joint play, multidirectional translatoric joint mobilizations and an introduction to traction manipulations. Foundational sciences, clinical reasoning, orthopedic pathologies, and patient cases will also be presented and discussed.

- [Course CETP20200: SAT Summer Camp](https://pace.oakland.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1045821): Join us for an intensive SAT workshop before the students go back to school! The workshop is also perfect for students looking to sit for the August exam. Taught by two experienced, certified teachers, students will learn SAT specific strategies and review core content they will encounter on the exam. Students will be expected to take one practice test in the week prior to the first class session. Students will also receive a 3-book course pack. Detailed instructions will be sent out in a Welcome Email a week prior to the first class. An additional practice test will be taken mid-way through the course.

Participants receive an extensive introduction to the financial planning process, time value of money, ethical considerations, economic environment and essential investment planning concepts. The course includes study of securities markets, investment asset classes, portfolio construction, and investment techniques, tools and strategies. This course is a prerequisite to all the other courses in the program. An HP10BII calculator is required for the program.

Full-length practice tests and an online study tool supplement the program to help students maximize performance on test day. Evidence supported manual therapy specialty skills presented in this course include symptom localization, muscle play and palpation, functional massage, manual muscle stretching, self-functional massage, and autostretching. Foundational sciences, clinical reasoning, orthopedic pathologies, and patient cases will also be presented and discussed.

The course focuses on petitions to commence Informal, Formal and Supervised probate proceedings, including preparation of inventory and accountings, the claims process, sale and distribution of assets and closing of the estate.

- [Course 0114: Youth Brass Band](https://pace.oakland.edu/search/publicCourseSearchDetails.do?method=load&courseId=1656827): The Oakland University Youth Brass Band (OUYBB) is open to high school brass and percussion students. The ensemble explores and performs the music written for the British brass band while also developing student’s playing skills and musicianship. In addition to performing with the band, percussion students receive specialized instruction and will also perform in a percussion ensemble. The OUYBB Course (0114-001) meets every Sunday afternoon from January 29th through March 19th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at a cost of $250. On Sunday, March 19th the group will present a concert with the Oakland University Brass Band. In addition, the OUYBB will be performing at the Dublin Festival of Brass in Dublin, Ohio on Saturday, March 25th for an additional cost of $250. The additional fee covers the travel by motor coach to and from the festival, the hotel accommodations for the evening of Friday, March 24th and the festival registration fee. For most of us, however, the ability to capture a performance of a rehearsal or concert requires technical knowledge and hardware/software that we don't have. The thought of wasting valuable resources. rehearsal time can also discourage exploration and use of audio recording. This workshop is focused on providing a simple and effective recording solution by using certain principles and cost-effective equipment. Since every situation and ensemble is different, this workshop will consist of an overview of acoustic and recording principles, followed by an extensive Q & A session in which these principles can be applied to specific conditions. Participants can expect to come away with a variety of approaches that they can try with their ensembles, as well as a list of hardware and software products that can fit most budgets.

Participants receive an extensive introduction to the financial planning process, time value of money, ethical considerations, economic environment and essential investment planning concepts. The course includes study of securities markets, investment asset classes, portfolio construction, and investment techniques, tools and strategies. This course is a prerequisite to all the other courses in the program. An HP10BII calculator is required for the program. Income Tax Designed to enable the professional providing personal financial planning services to recognize many of the income tax planning opportunities and dilemmas that may arise. The course covers the fundamentals of individual income taxation and tax law overview, terminology and computations. Discussion and analysis will focus on practical problems involving tax planning implications of home ownership; property transactions; tax advantage investments; divorce and remarriage; forms of business ownership; accounting methods and periods; life insurance, annuities, and securities; intra-family and charitable transfers; and forms and methods of employment compensation. Retirement & Employee Benefit Provides working knowledge of retirement planning tools, terminology, and techniques, including the rules, regulations, and taxation of qualified and non-qualified plans: Pension, profit sharing, 401(k), SEP, IRA, and deferred compensation. Includes study of the basic characteristics of specific employee benefits such as group life insurance and group health coverage. The financial planning process will be emphasized in class discussion with illustrations from practical experience and actual case histories. Estate Plan & Advanced Case Study Also, newly re-designed, this course combines the estate planning essentials with practical application using the case study method. The course covers the estate planning process, property ownership and implications, lifetime and death-related transfers, legal documents, federal gift and estate tax law, business transfers, estate valuation, and income tax ramifications in estate planning The case studies integrate all aspects of the financial planning process with an emphasis on the estate planning. Students are expected to participate actively in the case presentations. Financial Plan Development The Financial Plan Development course features solid, practical application of all the material covered in the prior classes. Students are required to prepare a comprehensive written financial plan and to present it orally, according to rules established by Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. The course provides both relevant, practical experience in comprehensive planning and superlative preparation for the case studies in the national certification examination.
