The Ascension Providence Rochester Foundation, the Oakland University School of Health Sciences, and Oakland University Professional and Continuing Education are conducting a series of Mental Health First Aid virtual training sessions for community members. Mental Health First Aid, created by the National Council for Behavioral Health, teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
The March and May trainings will specifically focus on Youth Mental Health First Aid. This course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
Sessions will take place from 9:00am-3:00pm. Participants must complete a 2-hour online self study before attending the live online sessions.
