Discover Your Future in Nursing!

The Oakland University School of Nursing invites high school students to participate in an exciting, hands-on Nursing Summer Camp designed for students who have completed their sophomore year and are interested in exploring careers in health care.

This immersive, multi-day experience provides participants with a unique opportunity to learn directly from registered nurses and faculty while engaging in interactive activities that introduce the knowledge, skills, and professional values of nursing.

What You’ll Experience

Participants will:

  • Explore diverse nursing careers, including hospital, community, pediatric, and advanced practice roles
  • Learn about nursing education pathways
  • Practice real-world clinical skills in OU’s state-of-the-art simulation labs
  • Participate in hands-on activities such as:
    • Vital signs assessment
    • Wound care and dressing changes
    • PPE use and infection prevention
    • CPR and patient care simulations
  • Work collaboratively with peers in team-based challenges and simulations
  • Engage in reflective activities that build confidence and support career exploration

Who Should Apply

  • High school students (typically ages 15–17)
  • Students who have completed their sophomore year
  • Individuals interested in nursing, health care, or helping professions
