Introducing our Mindfulness-Based Animal-Assisted Services (MB-AAS) Program, a comprehensive training opportunity designed for professionals across various fields such as case management, counseling, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, social work, teaching, and more. This program empowers participants to incorporate mindfulness techniques and animal-assisted services (AAS) into their professional practice, enhancing well-being and reducing stress for both clients and practitioners.

The program consists of four modules:

  • Module 1: Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBI)
This foundational course equips professionals with mindfulness techniques that can be seamlessly integrated into the workplace to manage stress, alleviate anxiety, and enhance overall well-being. Participants will explore neuroscience-based research on mindfulness and how it can be adapted to treat symptoms related to depression, addiction, and trauma.

  • Module 2: Animal-Assisted Services (AAS) I
Dive into the emerging field of AAS, where the relationship between humans and animals is explored in-depth. Participants will learn about the taxonomy and theory of AAS, distinguishing it from service animals, emotional support animals, and therapy animals. This course emphasizes ethical boundaries and professional responsibilities in animal-assisted services.

  • Module 3: Animal-Assisted Services (AAS) II
Building on the previous module, AAS II delves into practical applications of mindfulness and AAS with special populations. Participants will gain advanced knowledge in animal welfare, training, and selection while exploring how these services can reduce stress and improve mental health outcomes for individuals facing pain, trauma, addiction, and other challenges.

  • Module 4: Fieldwork in MB-AAS
This experiential learning module provides hands-on fieldwork experience, allowing students to apply the theories and techniques learned in the earlier modules. Participants will engage in supervised activities within their chosen professional settings, receiving direct feedback on their integration of animal-assisted services and mindfulness-based interventions.

This program offers a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, aimed at helping professionals enhance their practice and improve client outcomes.
