Course Description

Philosophy Camp is a summer camp for high schoolers that provides HS students and undergraduates an opportunity that combines learning, leadership, and humor.

Our theme for 2026 will be “Fact and Fiction”. Emily Dickenson once wrote, “Tell all the truth, but tell it slant / Success in circuit lies”. Do people who work in the arts tell the truth slant, or are they not concerned with telling the truth at all? Does art describe the world or shape it – or perhaps shape ourselves? And what about other forms of media? What responsibility does a journalist, a podcaster, or social media poster have to tell the truth when they speak – or can they justify lying because it might promote the common good?

The 2026 Philosophy Camp will take place from July 13th thru July 17th (Monday thru Friday).  We will spend the day reading and conversing, and we will spend the evening engaged in unique and fun activities (campfires, scavenger hunts, tree climbing -- you know, very Socratic activities).

Cost for camp is $675. Students who wish to attend camp should must apply, click here to first fill out a short application.

If you would like to be considered for a need-based scholarship, please click here.

There are discounts for OU staff/faculty, for multiple child registrations, and for early-bird registration. Sign up by April 20 for the $50 early-bird discount!
